Job Title: Farming and Camping Assistant

Duration: May 1st, 2023 - August 27th, 2023.

Location: Irricana, Alberta. Sylvan Lake, Alberta

Office: Wray’s Ranch, and Camp Kuriakos

Hours of Work: 30 hours per week for 6 weeks. Full-time hours at camp starting June 16th.

Compensation: $20 per hour on the farm. Camp compensation will be negotiated.

Working Condition: Working on sites where might be in damp, dry, hot, cold, dusty, smelly conditions.

Task Summary (Farm):

  • Work under the instructions to perform tasks including but not limited to:

    • Handling Animals (mostly cattle and sheep)

    • Monitoring animal health

    • Feed and tend animals

    • Provide maintenance for farm facilities (fences, plumbing etc.)

    • Operate different machineries in a safely manners

Requirements (Farm):

  1. Must meet the requirements of the Canada Summer Jobs Program

    • Must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment.

    • Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.

    • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations. International students are not eligible participants. Recent immigrants are eligible if they are Canadian citizens or permanent residents.

  2. Own vehicle and transportation are required.

  3. Must understand that the working environment can be intensive and physically demanding.

  4. Must be willing to work with positive attitudes considering the ranch is family-operated.

  5. Must be available to participate in staff training in Sylvan Lake from June 16th to June 26th. Food, transportation, and accommodation will be provided.

Qualifications (Farm):

  • No education degree, certificate, or diploma is required.

  • No previous experience is required.
